Congratulations to Carver student Nana’Akua Obeng, 2nd Place Winner of the Kroger Black History Month Poem Contest

Read Nana’Akua’s poem…

nanaWhen I think about Black History Month,

Sometimes I’m happy, sometimes I’m sad.

I think of the brave people who were treated very bad.

Learning of their sufferings and their pain.

Trying to make a difference in a world full of troubles,

I am proud of their efforts and struggles.

They marched, sat, fought, boycotted, prayed and sung.

Hoping that they would never again be abused or hung.

These very brave Black History movers.
