Gompers’ Reading Dads make reading fun!

The mission of the Gompers’  Reading Dads is more than just to read to children, although they do make it their mission to offer a top-notch and fun reading experience for students!

“Our mission is to to serve, protect and nurture all of our children,” said Harold Harris, a Parent Volunteer and animated reader. “We volunteer as hall monitors, lunch room monitors, we go on field trips, we are at basketball games, track and field events, and more.”

Mr. Harris said the group, which was founded in 2008, strives to support the school in every way possible, in addition to holding two reading days a year — in October and March. At the most recent event on March 14, 2013, 22 dads came to Gompers to read to Pre-k through 5th grade students throughout the day. The dads and students, alike, had loads of fun!
