Pershing bids for perfection Thursday in Operation Friendship boys’ basketball game

No. 1-ranked Pershing High (19-0) goes for its first undefeated regular season in 17 years Thursday when it faces University of Detroit Jesuit (16-3) in the Operation Friendship boys’ basketball city championship game at Western International High School.

Operation Friend 2The 7 p.m. title game follows the 5 p.m. consolation game between PSL runnerup Cass Tech (16-2) and Catholic League runnerup Warren De La Salle (15-4). Admission is $5.

In last Thursday’s Operation Friendship girls’ basketball title game at Birmingham Marian High, No. 1-ranked PSL champion King beat Marian 36-33 and PSL runnerup Cass Tech defeated Divine Child 57-36.
