Today’s (Feb. 8) quarterfinal games of the Detroit Public School League Big D boys’ basketball tournament will be played as scheduled.
At Renaissance High, defending league champion King plays Douglass at 4 p.m., and No. 1 state-ranked Pershing puts its unbeaten 16-0 record on the line against Central at 5:30 p.m.
At East English Village Prep, Southeastern plays Cody at 4 p.m. followed by Cass against Renaissance at 5:30 p.m.
Today’s boys’ winners move on to the semifinals Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Cass Tech High
In girls’ quarterfinal action Thursday, Pershing defeated Cody 70-29 and Cass Tech beat Northwestern 48-18 at East English Village Prep; and Renaissance defeated Osborn 57-38 and defending PSL champion and No. 1 state-ranked King defeated Mumford 58-23 at Western International High.
The league championship games are slated for Friday, Feb. 15 at University of Detroit-Mercy Calihan Hall. The girls’ title game is set for 5 p.m. and the boys play at 7:30 p.m.
