PSL shines with 28 scholarship recipients on College Football National Letter of Intent Signing Day

The sunshine Wednesday was fitting as 28 Detroit Public School League student-athletes celebrated their bright futures by officially accepting full-ride scholarships to 18 different universities on college football’s National Letter of Intent Signing Day.

2013NLICeremony 003A large gathering of parents and school supporters was on hand at Marcus Garvey Academy’s Harambee Center where a bumper crop of seniors from six PSL schools – Cass Tech, Douglass, East English Village, King, Pershing and Renaissance – each were introduced and ceremoniously signed a poster bearing his college’s name and mascot before posing for pictures and taking questions from the media.–2013302070226

Cass Tech, fresh off its back-to-back Division 1 state championship, had a dozen student-athletes among that list, while East English Village had six, league champion King had four, and Douglass, Pershing and Renaissance had two each.
