“The true joy of giving was experienced at Communications Media Arts H.S in collaboration with Gleaners Food Bank,” said Senior Sydney Jackson.
Over 4,000 canned goods were collected to feed thousands of families in Southeastern Michigan. Assistant Principal Tiffany Cox supervises this annual event with National Honor Society council members. Despite all of the turbulent times experienced in our communities many were willing to give back breaking the record for DPS contributions.
“It is important to instill in our students the importance of giving and caring for our community,” said Ms. Cox.
Students, faculty and staff collected, organized and loaded thousands of can goods helping others. The class of 2016 gave the largest contribution of more than 1,000 cans.
“CMA has always been supported by our community and believes in servicing our partners,” said Principal Donya Odom. “This is one of the best lessons taught.”
The value of sharing for the betterment of others has made this service project a most memorable, exciting event for all.
