Local churches donate 100 coats to Harms Elementary School K-1 students

Presbyterian churches in Southwest Detroit collaborate to collect 100 coats for students in need at Harms

Two Presbyterian churches in Southwest Detroit have joined forces to keep Harms Elementary School students warm this winter.

After receiving a request for assistance from Harms’ Principal Karen White to donate coats to less fortunate students, Comunidad Los del Camino Presbyterian Church put out a call to action to churches within the Presbytery of Detroit.

The Youth Ministry of Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church quickly took on the challenge, stating they would like to provide all 100 winter coats to students at Harms.

The coats were presented to Harms Elementary School students on Monday, December 10, 2012. Both churches, as well as others in the community, also partner with Harms Elementary School to provide tutoring services.
