Cass Tech High, which last year defeated Detroit Catholic Central 49-13 to become the first Detroit Public School League team to win the Division 1 state football championship, added another memorable chapter Saturday at Ford Field where the Technicians celebrated the first consecutive state championship in PSL football history.

Cass Tech celebrates repeat as Division 1 football state champions

In a rematch of last year’s Division 1 championship game, Coach Thomas Wilcher’s team (12-2) again showed its superiority with a 36-21 victory against the Shamrocks (9-5), much to the enthusiastic delight of thousands of mostly green and white-clad fans.

Cass Tech scored on a Jourdan Lewis 89-yard touchdown pass play from Jayru Campbell on its first play from scrimmage and never looked back.
