Renaissance High freshman Nia Little, who shot a nine-hole score of 41 as the Detroit Public School League girls’ golf low medalist, will represent the PSL this weekend, Friday and Saturday, in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state championship tournament at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University.
Little qualified for the state tourney by shooting an 18-hole 94 in the recent state regional tournament at Farmington Hills Golf course. She was one of only three individuals who qualified for the state from this region, advancing with golfers from each of the tournament’s top three teams.
“She struck the ball very well under very difficult conditions,’’ Renaissance coach Harry Kennedy said. “It was so cold and there were strong winds throughout the course, but she didn’t complain and just stayed focused on her game. She played very well as her score indicates.”
