Pershing’s Hill sisters, Cass Tech’s Tripp lead PSL East top cross country teams

Cass Tech senior Jermaine Tripp ran the 5,000-meter Belle Isle course in a boys’ first-place time of 19:28.643 and Pershing senior Nijzah Hill won the girls’ race in 22:40.894 to lead their respective teams to victory in Thursday’s (Sept. 18) Detroit Public School League cross country jamboree meet #2.

Pershing High’s Nijzah Hill

Led by Tripp’s second victory in as many meets, Cass Tech was the East division’s top boys’ team with 42 points. Renaissance was the top boys’ team in the West with 68 points.

Pershing High’s Brittany Hill

Hill, followed in second place by her sister, freshman Brittany Hill, helped the Doughgirls take first among East girls’ teams with 90 points. Renaissance, led by Leah Spivey, Asia Scott and DaJanae Dye in third, fourth and fifth-place, respectively, scored 40 points as the top West girls’ squad.
