Cass Tech (3-0 league, 4-0 overall) and East English Village (3-0 league, 3-1 overall) control the West and East divisions, respectively, at the halfway mark of the Detroit Public School League football regular season.

In the East Division, Central (2-1 league, 3-1) hosts King (1-2 league, 1-3 overall) at 6 p.m.; while other games (all 4 p.m. starts) include Douglass (2-1 league, 2-2 overall) hosting Pershing (1-2 league, 2-2 overall) at Kettering High’s field; Denby (1-2 league, 1-3 overall) at Osborn (1-2 league, 1-3 overall); and East English Village at Southeastern (1-2 league, 1-3 overall).
West Division games (all 4 p.m. starts) include: Cody (2-1 overall, 2-2 league) at Renaissance (2-1 league, 2-2 overall); Ford (1-2 league, 1-3 overall) at Mumford (0-3 league, 0-4 overall); and Northwestern (0-2 league, 1-3 overall) versus Western (1-1 league, 1-3 overall) at Southwestern High’s field.
Cass Tech, the defending Division 1 state champion, will bid to strengthen its No. 1 state-ranking in a 7 p.m. nonleague showdown at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, last year’s Division III state champion.
The PSL semifinals are slated for Friday, October 12 at Northwestern High School and will match the first-place team in the East against the second-place team in the West at 5 p.m. followed by the first-place team in the West against the second-place team in the East at 7 p.m. The PSL championship game is scheduled for Friday, October 19 at a site to be determined.
