About the ESD Engineering SMArT Detroit™ Competition
Expanding on a successful tradition of supporting youth education in engineering, ESD developed an exciting new program for high school level students called Engineering SMArT Detroit. With a real-world application of science, math, architecture and technology, students learn about energy as it relates to their own schools and the environmental challenges within their community. The program engages students to envision and shape their own communities through their new understanding of energy and cultivate their desire to be active contributors to the sustainability and vitality of their city. Over 120 students from four local schools compete to design the most energy efficient gymnasium for a school.
