Cass Tech High School’s football team was presented a $1,000 check Wednesday from the Public School League Alumni Sports Association, Inc., a service organization that has supported Detroit Public School League scholar-athletes for 30 years. The Technicians will use the contribution toward the purchase of 30 new helmets for the team.

“I’m very appreciative of the PSL Alumni Association for always coming through to help out where needed,’’ said Cass Tech head coach Thomas Wilcher. “Our mission is to help the student-athletes of the city of Detroit,’’ said alumni association president Mitchell Aclise. “Not only Cass, but any (DPS) school that seeks our help, we’re always there for them.”
