Last day for Detroit Public Schools’ Open Enrollment period is MONDAY, April 16

District offers raffles, shuttle service, office hours, free breakfast for prospective parents at all schools during LAST DAY BLITZ

 On the last day of Detroit Public Schools’ Open Enrollment period, every school will hold Open Enrollment Office Hours all day for enrolling parents, and the district’s eight Parent Resource Centers will hold “I’m In Celebrations” that include healthy eating demonstrations, raffles and special activities, as well as food and refreshments from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Parents also will have an opportunity to see schools up close by hopping aboard the Open Enrollment Shuttle Van at three centralized locations, and prospective parents may eat breakfast for free with their children at any school

Parents who would like their children to attend a school other than their neighborhood school for the 2012-13 school year must fill out an Open Enrollment form by Monday.

All Day I’m In Events

Open Enrollment Office Hours: Parents seeking to take advantage of Open Enrollment can stop by any school to enroll. Schools will have enrollment forms and information about their programs. Application schools may have other requirements. Exception: Examination schools have already held their exams for the upcoming year.

Free Breakfast

Prospective parents seeking to take advantage of Open Enrollment can eat breakfast for free with their children at any cafeteria.

Free Open Enrollment Shuttle Van

Parents seeking to take advantage of Open Enrollment will have an opportunity to see schools up close by hopping aboard the Open Enrollment Shuttle Van at three centralized locations. Limited seating. First come, first-served.

Departing at 9:30 a.m.

Osborn High School Parent Resource Center, 11600 E. 7 Mile Rd. — Open Enrollment Shuttle Van will take parents to East side schools they wish to visit.

Departing at Noon  

Detroit International Academy Parent Resource Center, 9026 Woodward Ave. — Open Enrollment Shuttle Van will take parents to Centralized schools they wish to visit.

Departing at 2:30 p.m.

Detroit Schools of Arts West-Langston Hughes Campus Parent Resource Center, 19501 Berg Rd. Open Enrollment Shuttle Van will take parents to West side schools they wish to visit.

“I’m In” Celebrations in the Parent Resource Centers

3-5 p.m. at the Eight Parent Resource Centers

Parents seeking to take advantage of Open Enrollment can stop by any Parent Resource Center. Parents can come celebrate saying “I’m In” with special healthy eating demos, free food and refreshments. Any parent who stops in for a workshop, to sign up for e-newsletters, or to enroll will be entered into a raffle to win a Subway or Target gift card.

Locations are: Central High School, 2425 Tuxedo; Cody, 18445 Cathedral; Detroit International Academy, 9026 Woodward; Detroit School of Arts West (DSA) Langston Hughes Campus, 19501 Berg; Marcus Garvey Academy, 2301 Van Dyke; Osborn High School, 11600 E. 7 Mile Rd.; Phoenix Elementary, 7735 Lane; and Priest, 7840 Wagner.
