Renaissance High School Shines at FIRST Robotics District Competition

Renaissance High School students participated in the Detroit FIRST Robotics District Competition held at Wayne State University March 16-17, 2012.

Renaissance competed against more than 60 Detroit-area and suburban high schools throuhgout Michigan.

The Renaissance “Phoenix Phenoms” placed 1st, 6th, 8th, 9th, 14th, and 12th out of 40 areas of placement. 

Two Phoenix football players, Terrell Hemphill Jr. (senior) and Dontae Addison (freshman) participated in the competition at the controls, driving and shooting baskets with the team’s robot.

“This just goes to show that our boys not only have athletic abilities, but they have the brains and intellect behind it all to make positive things happen,” said LaVonne Addison, Renaissance Parent.
