John R. King’s Angelic Chorale Performs at Carnegie Hall

The John R. King Academic & Performing Arts Academy’s Angelic Chorale traveled to New York March 2-5, 2012 to perform at the world’s most prestigious performing arts stage: Carnegie Hall.

The Angelic Chorale was selected by the Heritage World Strides National Middle School Festival to perform as the Featured Choir at Carnegie Hall.

The group of 22 students performed four songs: “Night Winds,” by Victor C. Johnson; “We Can Plant a Forest,” by Jim Papoulis & Mike Greenly; “Kyrie,” by Jay Althouse; and “Rockin’ Jerusalem,” by Donald Moore.

“We were received by the audience with a rousing standing ovation that seemed to last forever,” said Annette Anderson, Vocal Music Director. “This was an educational experience that will have a lasting effect on our students at John R. King Academy.”

When not practicing or performing, the group toured the cities of Harlem, Brooklyn and Manhattan. They also attended the Broadway Show “Spider Man” and visited the sites of the World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty, Time Square, Apollo Theater and Wall Street.
