Five Detroit Public School League teams remain in the Michigan High School Athletic Association girls’ basketball state playoffs heading into Friday’s district finals.
In Class A, the PSL champion King High Lady Crusaders (19-3) will host Cass Tech (15-6) at 5 p.m., and, at Pershing High, the PSL runner-up Doughgirls (19-3) will host Cody at 5 p.m. In Class B at Southwestern High, Northwestern (9-8) will play Detroit University Prep (14-8) at 4:30 p.m.
The winners advance into regional play next week.
In district semifinals Wednesday, (Class A) Cass Tech defeated Southeastern 59-42; King defeated Western International 66-13; Cody beat Renaissance 43-39 in overtime; Pershing defeated Mumford 74-51; Southfield defeated Henry Ford 41-14; (Class B) Northwestern beat DIA 51-23; Southwestern lost to Detroit University Prep 53-14; CMA bowed to Ferndale 62-42; Osborn lost to Harper Woods Chandler Park 76-48; and (Class D) City lost to Southfield Christian 69-33.
