From the Free Press’ Sylvia Rector: Detroit students prepare food fit for a king

Most people wouldn’t go out of their way to have lunch at a public school, but Emmitt Reeves, Jessie Stevens and Dorothy Ford make an exception for the white-tablecloth buffets prepared by culinary students at Breithaupt Career & Technical Center in Detroit.

“The food is just delicious,” said Stevens, dining with her retiree friends in the school’s attractive, light-filled atrium earlier this month. “The decorations are always beautiful” and at $15, “the price is not bad at all.”
