On Tuesday, December 13 at 6 p.m., the Angelic Chorale will a hold a fundraising performance of the Nutcracker and other chorale selections at J.R. King, 15850 Strathmoor.
“It’s an outstanding honor and great opportunity for our students to represent middle schools across the nation as the National Middle School Choir at the Festival at Carnegie Hall,” said J.R. King Choir Director Annette Anderson.
The 25 students in the choir must raise funds for travel, bus transportation, hotel accommodations, food, and concert attire for the March concert. The first deposit for the festival is due November 15.
J.R. King was chosen to perform as a Featured Choir at the Festival at Carnegie Hall, one of world’s premier music venues, following a special application and audition process. Among the schools auditioning, John R. King Academic and Performing Arts Academy rose to the top and was selected for a 15-minute solo performance under the direction of Choir Director Annette Anderson and accompanist Pamela Moore.
The Festival at Carnegie Hall is specifically designed to demonstrate and celebrate the musical talent of the participating ensembles through exceptional festivals for choral and instrumental festival performances, according to the WorldStrides Heritage Performance website.
John R. King Academic and Performing Arts Academy will bring 25 students to New York from its celebrated and honored Angelic Chorale. The students already have received scholarships, superior ratings for trophies, outstanding plaques, and excellent ratings for medals and certificates. Some members have also received superior medals for solos.
The group is kicking off fundraising among friends, family, and the community.
