The Office of Literacy encourages all K – 8 schools to register for the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee Program

The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational promotion, administered on a not-for-profit basis. The purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, and develop correct English usage. The program is open to students who have not matriculated beyond the eighth grade and did not turn 15 years old on or before August 31, 2011.

The Office of Literacy encourages all K – 8 schools to register for the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee Program at www.spellingbee.com. The regular enrollment period is from August 16, 2011 to October 17, 2011 and the required fee is $109 per school (no purchase orders).  Late enrollment is on-going through December 16, 2011. There is an additional $75.00 fee for late enrollment.
