Yum! It’s National School Lunch Week!

DPS knows that healthy eating helps to create healthy minds. The Office of Food Services is committed to supporting the educational development of our students by providing healthy breakfasts and hot and nutritional lunches to all students in grades K-12 receive at no charge in an effort to ensure all children receive nutritional meals, regardless of income. On-site preparation ensures that meals are served hot in compliance with Federal, State and local Health Department regulations. All menus adhere to the guidelines of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

DPS provides free fresh cooked food items to all students in grades k-12 through our Heat & Serve program, where meals are heated, served fresh and hot on site to students in every school. Our menus include a healthy array of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole wheat /whole grain breads and pizza, lower fat and sodium meat/meat alternate options (Turkey Burgers, Turkey Meatballs, Grilled Chicken), 100% fruit juices, and 1% or Fat free milk.

Monday: Baked Chicken Fryz, Spring/Romaine Salad, Chilled Pineapple Tidbits,
Whole Wheat Dinner Roll, Milk

Tuesday: Cheeseburger on whole wheat bun, Corn Cobette, Fresh Pear, Milk

Wednesday: Whole Grain Crust Cheese Pizza, Romaine Salad Mix, Diced Apricots Cup, Vanilla Milk

Thursday: Baked Chicken Rings, Steamed Broccoli, Fresh Orange Wedges, whole wheat Dinner Roll, Milk

Friday: Baked Cheese Sandwich, Carrot & Celery Sticks, Fresh Apple Slices, Milk
