Detroit Children’s Museum will reopen to the public on Oct. 12 for school field trips, families and members. The Children’s Museum, a partnership between Detroit Public Schools and the Detroit Science Center, has long been one of Detroit’s cultural gems. Now part of the Detroit Science Center experience, the Children’s Museum, which is owned by DPS and operated by the Science Center as part of a ten-year agreement, features a collection of more than 100,000 artifacts ranging from dinosaur bones to dioramas, masks, costumes and dolls from around the world, an extensive collection of rocks, fossils and crystals, and more; plus a “touch the stars” planetarium; and hands-on art and activity stations, the museum will offer visitors a unique look at world cultures, art, history and science.
