DPS to hold a “School Readiness” Scavenger Hunt during parade on Saturday

 Parents who secure all their “readiness items” will be entered into a drawing

Get ready to Hunt!

Parents attending the Detroit Public Schools Back to School Parade on Saturday, August 27 will have a chance to win cool prizes as part of a School Readiness Scavenger Hunt along the parade route on Woodward Avenue.

At each stop, parents will be given valuable information about school readiness, including information on the importance of attendance, MEAP tips and more. The Scavenger Hunt goes on only during the parade, which begins at 11 a.m., stepping off at Grand Circus Park. Scavenger Hunt Checkpoints are:

Point 1-GrandRiver/Woodward or Fort/Woodward (Red balloons)

Point 2-Michigan/Woodward or State/Woodward (green balloons)

Point 3-Congress/Woodward (purple balloons)

Point 4-LarnedSt/Woodward (orange balloons)

Point 5-Hart Plaza (yellow balloons)

Parents who get stamped at each stop will be entered into a raffle at the RALLY from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Hart Plaza. Prizes include backpacks full of school supplies, uniform vouchers, and more. Note: The Education and Enrollment Expo is 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Hart Plaza. The Parade kicks off at 11 a.m., Grand Circus Park.
