PSL’s Proud Strong Learners campaign earns media group’s award for PR excellence

The Detroit Public School League’s Proud Strong Learners of the Year campaign, which honored 56 exemplary scholar-athletes and three outstanding teams as Proud Strong Learners of the Week during the 2010-2011 school year, was presented with the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Award for public relations Saturday in Philadelphia, site of the NABJ’s 2011 convention.

Chuck Johnson, DPS Sports Information Director, accepted the award on behalf of the school district’s athletes and the solid leadership of DPS Office of Athletics Administrator Alvin Ward.

The NABJ, with 3,300 members, is the largest organization of journalists of color in the nation.
