Bethune Fitzgerald Academy students to participate in first-ever High School Bound program

To familiarize Bethune Fitzgerald Academy students with Detroit Public High Schools and all of the opportunities they have to offer and to help them prepare for high school, Bethune Fitzgerald Academy will host the first-ever Detroit Public Schools High School Bound program on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 4-5:30 p.m.

The event will take place in the new Bethune Fitzgerald Academy gymnasium, Wonder Hall, and will be organized similarly to a college fair. Every participating high school will have a table with information about their school, opportunities for students, and a place to sign up for a high school tour at that building.

Detroit Public Schools High School Bound was created by the Bethune Fitzgerald team to expose students to high schools that they can attend and to allow students to begin thinking about their transition to high school.

When and Where:
4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011
Bethune Fitzgerald Academy, 8145 Puritan St.

“A smooth transition from middle school to high school is essential for the success and development of our students at Bethune Fitzgerald Academy,” said Terri L. Cook, Parent Community Resource Director at Bethune Fitzgerald Academy. “We strive to provide all of our students with a high quality education that will serve them well in high school.”

Students, accompanied by their parents, will have an opportunity to talk with the high school principals/other representatives and ask questions about the school. The High School Bound program will include all Eighth Graders at Bethune Fitzgerald Academy.
