Detroit, MI – March 25, 2011 – The recently launched Cass Technical High School Commemorative Brick Program is realizing renewed interest from alumni who want to own a piece of history.
With demolition under way at Cass Tech, and the recent demolition of several more schools, people interested in purchasing commemorative bricks will soon have even more options to choose from.
The Detroit Public School Foundation (DPSF) is currently selling Cass Tech bricks. Proceeds benefit Cass Tech and DPSF, which provides support for academic programs at Detroit Public Schools.
DPSF’s offerings will soon include bricks from Finney and Chadsey High Schools. Each brick is presented elegantly, with a protective sealant and bronze, silver or gold finished plaque. Silver and gold plaques may be personalized with a name and graduation year.
Interest in the Cass Tech bricks has come from far and wide, as alumni have followed varied career paths. Actor/comedian and Cass Tech grad David Alan Grier is among those to have his name inscribed on a gold brick, which will be presented to him on Saturday, March 26th.
“This is an opportunity to own a piece of history,” notes DPSF President and CEO Chacona W. Johnson. “And even better, to help us preserve and enhance crucial programs that will fortify our children’s learning experience as the Detroit Public Schools move forward.”
Individuals interested in buying bricks may view and order them on the Foundation website at www.detroitpsfoundation.org, or contact DPSF by phone at 313-873-3348 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
