The Cass Technical High School Men’s Ensemble will join the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club for its 151st Annual Fall Concert to inaugurate the Brothers in Song partnership between U-M and Detroit Public Schools.
Brothers in Song unites college and high school choral students through music by pairing singers from Cass Tech’s Men’s Ensemble and the U-M Men’s Glee Club for three rehearsals and a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday November 20 at Hill Auditorium, 825 N. University Ave., on the U-M campus.
As part of the program, each ensemble traveled to the other’s “home” for a rehearsal and tour, creating new friendships and a unique educational experience.
Founded in 1859, the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club is the second-oldest collegiate chorus in the United States. Cass Tech has been one of Michigan’s premier educational gems for over a century. With a unique blend of exceptional academics and reverence for the arts, Cass Tech provides a top-notch education and has produced such alumni as Diana Ross, Ellen Burstyn and Lily Tomlin. Cass Tech’s Men’s Ensemble comprises twenty young men from Cass Tech’s excellent choral ensembles, whose highlights include excellent ratings from the Michigan School Vocal Music Association.
The concert program will feature classical works, spirituals, college songs, and many more. Ticket costs range from $18 on the main floor, $15 in the mezzanine, to student admission for $5. Tickets for the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club concert are available online at ummgc.org or by calling (734) 764-1448.
