King’s Sterrett, Cass Tech reign in PSL boys’ tennis

King High’s Rayshawn Sterrett won the Detroit Public School League boys’ tennis No. 1 singles title with a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory against Jack Huckleby of team champion Cass Tech High.
Lamar Weir and Justin Wright defeated Western’s duo 6-2, 7-6(7-5), 6-4 at No. 1 doubles to lead Cass Tech to the PSL title in Monday’s league tournament at Barcus Center. Cass Tech’s 23 points was followed by Western 14, Renaissance 12 and King 10.
In addition to No.1 doubles, Coach Clarence Wynn’s Technicians also has gold medalists in Darius Turner at No. 2 singles, Spenser Gregory and Kameron Clark at No. 3 doubles and Tariq Clay and Cesar Aquino at No. 4 doubles.
