Detroit Public Schools will auction off nearly 2,000 pieces of surplus office equipment, appliances, musical instruments, lawn equipment, furniture and much more on Saturday June 19, 2010.
“We need to clear as much space as possible in our warehouse,” said Felicia Venable-Akinbode, executive director of DPS Auxiliary Services. “There is a tremendous amount of inventory, and everything has to go. This is a great opportunity for churches, clubs and other groups to get deals on a wide variety of equipment.”
Other items included in the auction include broilers, vending machines, shampoo chairs and bowls, meat slicers and much more.
Doors open at 8 a.m. for bidder registration and viewing and the auction will begin at 10 a.m. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at the DPS Warehouse, 9800 Mount Elliott.
The sale is a total liquidation and every item must go. The items may be paid for with cash, cashier’s check, money order or company check with a bank’s letter of guarantee. No personal checks, debits or charges will be accepted. There will be a 12 percent buyers fee on all purchases.
The auction is the third in a series. The district brought in $157,822 and $45,542 respectively from vehicle and commercial kitchen equipment auctions held earlier this month.
