Crockett High receiver Lippett honored as All-Star Game leader

The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association announced today that Crockett High wide receiver Tony Lippett has been selected by his East All-Star teammates to receive the Tom Moshimer Award, named after the long-time Plymouth Salem coach and former MHSFCA All Star Game Chair.
Lippett, who is bound for Michigan State in the fall, earned the award based on leadership qualities exhibited during MHSFCA All-Star Game week that began June 13. The 30th MHSFCA East-West All Star Game will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Michigan State’s Spartan Stadium in East Lansing. The game features 88 of the top senior football players from Michigan. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the stadium box office the day of the game.
In addition to Lippett, other Detroit Public School League participants on the East squad are linebacker Dontavius Bryant (Martin Luther King), defensive lineman Kurtis Hawkins (Cody) and linebacker DeQuan Haten (Frederick Douglass).
Past PSL participants in the annual event include current NFL players Antoinio Gates (Central); Vernon Gholston (Cass Tech) and Bart Scott (Southeastern).
