DPS student receives a full baseball/academic scholarship at one of the nation’s top baseball conferences

Detroit Public Schools’ student Mark Brown, Jr., senior outfielder at Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School, has accepted a full baseball /academic scholarship to the University of Kansas, one of the premier college baseball conferences in the nation.

Brown signed a letter of intent on Nov. 11. He is the first Detroit Public Schools League player to sign at a Big 12 School for baseball.

“He possesses tremendous leadership qualities and is an outstanding young man,” said Norm Taylor, Head Baseball Coach/Attendance Agent at King High. Brown, a four-year starter on the baseball team, is also a member of the school’s basketball team and has participated in nationally-recognized summer baseball leagues.
