Three DPS teams advance to post-season football playoffs

Three Detroit Public Schools varsity football teams – Crockett, Cass Tech and Southeastern — have advanced in the 2009 Michigan High School Athletic Association Post-Season Playoffs. This week’s competitions will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7.

To generate excitement about the teams’ successes and encourage support, Robert Bobb, Detroit Public Schools’ Emergency Financial Manager, has requested and approved bus transportation for students and supporters to and from the games on Saturday. There will be no advance ticket sales because these are state playoffs. All tickets will be $5.

The following teams are headed to the playoffs:

Game: Hazel Park versus Crockett
Site: Osborn High School, 11600 E. 7 Mile Road
Time: 1 p.m.

Game: Cass Tech versus Southeastern
Site: Renaissance High School, 6565 W. Outer Drive
Time: 3 p.m.

Crockett fans will be picked up at Crockett High School and depart at 12 p.m. for the 1 p.m. game at Osborn.
They will return to Crockett following the game. Permission slips are required with parental consent to ride the fan bus.

Cass and Southeastern also will have one fan bus each, one bus leaving Cass at 2 p.m. and another leaving Southeastern at 2 p.m. for the 3 p.m. game at Renaissance. The fans will be returned to Cass and to Southeastern following the games. Permission slips are required with parental consent to ride the fan bus.
