Bill Cosby Joins Robert Bobbs’ Team; Activist returns to the city to help tout the "I’m In" message

WHAT: Dr. Bill Cosby, comedian, actor, activist and educator joins Detroit Public Schools and Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb Tuesday, Sept. 1, in efforts to retain and regain school aged children.

WHY: Cosby was impressed when he watched CNN coverage on the indictment of DPS’ workers for fraud and theft. On hearing Robert Bobbs’ comments, “I don’t care if the crook is a little guy or the chief executive. I do not care if they own the company or drive the trucks to the company’s loading dock. I do not care if they’ve been doing this for 20 years or 20 minutes. We’re coming to get you,” Cosby called Bobb and said, “Where do I pick up my uniform? I want to be on your team!” Cosby is assisting with the campaign free of charge and is paying his own expenses.

His appearance is in support of Detroit Public Schools’ “I’m In” student retention campaign, an aggressive effort designed to stop the steady decline in enrollment. Cosby and Bobb will be visiting and meeting parents, students and city leaders throughout the day.
