Detroit, MI – Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert C. Bobb and members of his financial team will hold a series of public work sessions with the Detroit Board of Education’s Finance Committee around the 2009-2010 budget for the Detroit Public Schools.
The first session will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, and will focus on the revenue forecasts for the year and these specific topics:
– Property Taxes
– Foundation Funding
– Federal Grant Funding
– State Aid Funding
A second session on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, will focus on the expenditure side of the 2009-2010 DPS budget, with these topics to be addressed:
– Cross Cutting Budget Expenditures
– Federal Funding Expenditures
– Special Education
Mr. Bobb committed to the sessions during the public 2009-2010 budget rollout process in late June and early July.
Both meetings will run from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the DPS Welcome Center, W. Grand Blvd. at Second.
In addition, the Emergency Financial Manager agreed on July 9 to attend once monthly Committee of the Whole Sessions from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month to give Board Members an opportunity to discuss the issues on which he and his team focus on a regular basis. Agendas for those meetings are coordinated through Mr. Bobb’s Chief of Staff and in consultation with the Board. The first of these will take place on Thursday, July 30 at 6:00 p.m., also in the Welcome Center.
Presentations for this Thursday’s meetings are being prepared on:
– High School Redesign – This will include representatives from the four selected high school partner
– DPS Budget Overview – This will include a presentation to the Committee of the Whole on the school district’s 2009-20 10 budget.
