15 Anna M. Joyce Elementary Teachers were recently notified that they have been awarded mini-grants by the PROJECT L.E.A.R.N Foundation! The grant amounts range between $750-$1,200 and total $15,750! The money awarded can be used for projects that “relate or enhance educational opportunities for students.” Joyce Elementary was adopted by PROJECT L.E.A.R.N for the 2007-2008 school year which gave Joyce teachers the opportunity to apply for the grants.
The Foundation adopted three schools last year, with Joyce being one of two DPS schools selected. Joyce teachers decided to collectively apply for a grant that would provide funds for new ELMO technology, laptop computers and physical education equipment to students. Teachers say these added features for students will help to “sustain the high quality of learning at the school.” Joyce Principal Diane Goins says she is excited to see the staff moving forward in the schools vision “to increase the use of technology for staff and students.”
The PROJECT L.E.A.R.N Foundation “hopes to provide over $100,000 to teacher mini-grants over the next 5 years,” and their sole purpose is to allocate funds for educational projects. PROJECT L.E.A.R.N. desires to have a “positive impact on educational opportunities for students.”
