The Detroit Public Schools District is home to some of the most active and well trained JROTC units in the state. Cadets from units at 23 DPS high schools will take an active part in the Veteran’s Day Ceremony to be held at the historic Elmwood Cemetery on Tuesday, November 11, beginning promptly at noon. The ceremony honors the members of the 102nd United States Colored Infantry Troops and Native American soldiers who are buried together in the cemetery’s Civil War plot. Prior to that ceremony, cadets from the JROTC units at Cooley, Detroit International Academy, Kettering, Pershing, Southeastern and Southwestern high schools will march in the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 8.
