Annie Carter is currently the Vice President of Detroit Board of Education. She was elected in 2005 to represent District 3, and has received one of the highest Award Certification for Board Members from Michigan Association of School Board.
She has over thirty years experience in Detroit Public Schools, which includes volunteering for many years and working for the District as an Assistant Attendance Agent. She has served the community, parents and students in a variety of roles such as; Precinct Delegate, Election Ambassadors, Parents High School Scholarship Committee, Parent and Community Subcommittee, Implementation Team (DPS), S.A.F.ET.Y. Program (After School Program), At-Risk Program (DPS), Safe Street (NCCJ/ AmeriCorps), Title One/Chapter One (No Child Left Behind), U S Army Grass Root Advisory Board and Military Moms United.
She has lived in District 3 for thirty-eight years with her husband and four children (who graduated from Detroit Public Schools). She is a member of; Michigan Association of School Board (MASB),National School Boards Association (NSBA),NAACP, Life Member, NCTI/CIP, Life Member (Title 1/Chapter 1 Parents), US Army Grass Root Advisory Board and Military Moms United.
Her experience has been engaging, collaborative, insightful, and a great journey into the educational arena. She has a love for helping and sometime they call her “The go to Lady”.
