Mission

Our mission is to be The Standard of Excellence in the provision of student transportation services. We will accomplish this mission in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner while treating our employees as part of our family and our students as our most important asset.

Transportation Services

DPS provides school bus transportation to all students in grades K-8 who live three-quarters of one mile or more from their neighborhood school. Some high school students can qualify for free and reduced D-DOT bus cards, which are distributed two weeks after the start of school. To qualify, students must attend their neighborhood school, receive meal benefits and live more than 1.5 miles from school. Transportation for Special Education students is assigned based on each student's IEP.

To learn more, call the DPS Transportation Help Line at (313) 945-8600. Parents of special education students may visit the Special Education Placement Center in the DPS Welcome Center or by calling (313) 870-3604 or (313) 870-3664.
