ADA & Section 508 Compliance

The Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is committed to making the information presented in its' website accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. DPSCD has reviewed and revised its website to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities as required by Section 508 of the Workforce Investment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. As available technology continues to improve, DPSCD will continue its efforts to enhance accessibility.

Many of the documents on our website are in HTML or plain-text (ASCII) formats. Pages in these formats are usually accessible to screen-reading software. We also have a large number of documents in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF), a type that reproduces the exact look of a printed page. PDF document are displayed through Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader but may require additional steps to become accessible to screen readers.

“The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect.”

Tim Berners-Lee
W3C Director and Inventor of the World Wide Web

The DPSCD Web Team works continuously to make the DPSCD website as accessible, informative and helpful as possible. In general, if you have problems accessing any information, viewing any page with adaptive technology, or using any forms, send email to webservice.help@detroitk12.org.
